The Ministry of Public Work and Housing (PUPR) through the Regional Infrastructure Development Agency (BPIW) will prioritize 230 special economic zones in Indonesia as part of the 2021 RPJMN.  Some of the prioritized economic zones in Sumatra, include the Special Economic Zone (KEK) of Arun Lhokseumawe, KEK Tanjung Api-Api, KEK Sei Mankei and the Prioritized Tourism Destination (DPP) of Toba Lake and DPP Bangka-Belitung. Moreover, there are 33 prioritized estates in Java Island and Bali Island.
